Today was a busy day for us! Riley and I went to the park and chased froggies, went to the lake to be near the water and went hiking at Saylorville. To accomodate all these activites I threw her in a brand new set from Baby Gap outlet. So simple, but cute. :) The shoes are converse and the bowband is another beauty from LBB.

Bad picture, but camera was dying and I barely had time. This outfit is from Gymboree's new line, Mermaid Magic. We have some adorable made to match bows on the way from Amanda, but simple piggies were fine for today. Dragged along with Riley today was Mr. Flapinkooh, her souviner from the multiple zoo trips of this week.

Day two of the zoo, but this time we dragged Daddy along on his day off. It was hot out today, so she was finally able to wear this dress from Janie & Jack's Vibrant Garden line from last summer. We had this dress last summer and I loved it so much I bought it again this year, but I don't know if I love it as much as I did then, it's still beautiful, I'm just not head over heels I guess. The flower clip is from Pink Hippo and the shoes are from Gymboree.
My baby is TWO tomorrow!

Sunday, May 17th
Today we went to the zoo with Riley dressed in her new Naartjie outfit given to her as a second birthday present from the wonderfully sweet Sara. She even made her matching bows! I cannot say enough about this wonderful woman but am so thankful to know such a kind and giving lady who always brightens me AND my daughters day, truly a blessing to know :)
The shoes are her Lelli Kelly's, I think we need a couple more pairs, she has been getting so much use out of her "Princess" shoes!
The bracelet was made by moi at eyebead gemstone in Valley Junction.
Just look at how happy cute birthday presents make her :D Thank you so much, Sara! We love it! (And now I need to shop Naartjie more haha)

Today was supposed to be the day of Riley's studio portraits to commemorate her second year of life. Unfortunately, the rude unprofessional non photographers at Portrait Innovations were incapable of doing their job and I had to take her out to Grey's Lake and do them myself. I am not a professional photographer and I would never claim to be one, but I think I handled taking her pics a hell of a lot better than they did (or rather, did not).
The first outfit is my beloved Matilda Jane Brownie Lap, I was about to sell it but hey, I still think it's cute even if it's a tiny bit shorter than some people's liking. It covers her butt, so you know, whatever man. The hairband is the Peony one from LittleBeautyBoutique and her bracelet is made by me from eyebead gemstone in downtown WDM.
Second outfit is a plain white Gap tee with the new tutu from Gymboree's new Mermaid Magic line. It's size 3 and a tiny loose around the waist, not that you could tell from the pic with her baby belly, but it's fun to be able to shop baby girl and kid girl Gymbo now. The headband I purchased from Pink Hippo, but the beauitful flower is a brilliant LBB creation.
And finally, THE birthday dress that she will wear to her Princess party. It is a beautiful dress in person, from Isobella and Chloe. Ironically, two of my top name choices for Riley. With it she is wearing a flower clip from Pink Hippo.
I think the three outfits show off all of Riley's cute personalities, which birthday pictures should do right? I can't believe my little baby is turning 2 in a couple days!

Wednesday, May 13th
Today Riley had a playdate with a new friend at the mall so I picked something easy and light for her to run around and look cute in. The more sensible option would've been jeans and a t shirt, but I'm rarely sensible when it comes to Riley's clothes and she was comfy I think :) The headband is from LittleBeautyBoutique on etsy from the lovely Jessica, the dress and leggings are Matilda Jane. The dress is from Hotline, the Phyllis, and doesn't appear to be too popular but it was my must have and I adore it, regardless of the wardrobe malfunctions it is apt to. I allowed Riley to wear her princess shoes since she was adamant about picking her shoes out and Lelli Kellys can basically be thrown with anything, in my opinion. If she wants to wear them to feel like a princess, I'll let her :)

Great fashion blog pic, right? She didn't want to have anything to do with taking a picture on this day.
However, this outfit WAS super adorable. It's from Janie & Jack's Sweet Coral Reef line, my favorite Janie and Jack summer line in the history of Janie & Jack. That should not be taken lightly. Owned most of it last summer, but held this outfit off for the next size so I could savor the beautiful blues and purples that look stunning on my little boo. The hat from last year still fits too, and in the fashion of J&J skirts, it is as notoriously big as all J&J skirts usually are, being a size 18-24 when she is wearing 2/3.

Monday, May 11th
After I came home from volunteering, Riley and I took Daddy shopping--what a treat for him, right? Riley wandered the aisles of Target, Toys R Us and the mall in this outfit from a variation of places. Head to toe: Bow from Pink Hippo, Polo from Pottery Barn Kids Threads Collection, Tunic is a layette dress from Janie & Jack the ultra hard to find Sunny Getaway dress, the skinny jeans are from Baby Gap and the shoes are See Kai Run Claras.
Mother's Day!
Happy late Mother's Day! I saved the Matilda Jane Gracie May art fair knot dress especially for today only to find out this will be the only time she wears it. It's so beautiful and I love it paired with this Target peasant and shoes with flowerband from LittleBeautyBoutique (of course)! So glad Drew was able to take pictures for me since I will probably never lay my hands on another Gracie May and I love this dearly. Aren't the colors perfection? I will be so sad to see it go, but there are other fish in the sea, and plenty more summer dresses on the rack. Au revior, Gracie May, you have become a favorite in your very short time with us.

I am in LOVE with this outfit. The dress and sweater are from Janie & Jack's Island Summer line from last summer. I owned so much of the line last year, that I decided to size up on the dress to save some of the cuteness for next year and I am SO glad that I did! Luckily, I was able to find the matching shrug from the lovely Felicia and the matching shoes are from Babies R Us. They are a PERFECT match and still a little big, but I'm happy I didn't buy the J&J ones last year without knowing how monstrous her feet would be. The flower clip is from the sweetest gal I know, Sara. :)
Do you see the growing piggies?!
Miss R will be 2 in .....12 days!

Tuesday, May 5th
Today (Wed.) Mommy was too busy with finals to think of a cute outfit and picture, so Riley just wore a Sweet Potatoes outfit while she hung out with her grandmother all day.
Tuesday's outfit (shown above) is the Matilda Jane Miso Pretty halter paired with some Gap denim capri's. I threw on one of my own "creations", that monster of a flowerband that created shadows over her face in pics (Duh, Mommy) and she decided to wear her Princess shoes (Lelli Kelly).
I'm LOVING the MJC halters right now, I see more outfit combos having them in the future.

Monday, May 4th
On Mondays, I usually leave to volunteer at the hospital for a few hours and then have class. Due to the H1N1 ordeal and no longer having class (woohoo), Riley, Daddy and I were able to spend a day together getting things done around the house and running errands. Something about putting huge flowers on Riley's head and intricate outfits and shoes bugs him I guess, so we stuck with simple today on our outings. This is the Matilda Jane Brownie Lap dress that I adore OH so much paired with some Converse and a "headband" from Coach. That's right, I combined my two loves. She has a few Coach headbands and wore them all the time last summer, but then I started getting comments from hoodlums on how cute they were and dropped the fashion statement. This year, I think it works.
I think I may be on the hunt for the next size up Brownie though :(

Saturday, May 2nd
It was so nice out this morning that I ripped the tags off of this outfit as soon as Riley woke me. The skirt is from Janie & Jack, as is the headband and the shirt is just a plain white tee from Old Navy. I think it's such a simple and adorable outfit, and the skirt was a great length to run around at the park this morning. I sized up on the entire outfit, and I'm glad I did--this skirt will fit for awhile, the waist is a little loose right now but it didn't slip off. Janie & Jack always has the sweetest little sets, it was the majority of what she wore last summer and putting it on her today made me remember my sweet little baby learning to walk in her J&J dresses. :)

Friday, May 1st
The weather channel can be very misleading to us Iowans. It was supposed to "feel like 40" today so I figured we could bust out the striped tights one last time and not get too hot.
Wrong. By the end of the day, it definitely felt like spring, but it was nice to throw these in for one last wear. She is wearing the Gap outlet Crazy Stripes tights and mini skirt with brown Converse, a plain shirt from Gymboree and a green and yellow clip the wonderful Sara made for us. It was a cute combo for her last day of daycare for "summer break".
Thursday, April 30th
We recently recieved this little number in the mail, and I wasn't sure about it, but it works great as a comfy play set and I think it will grow on me once Riley grows into it a little better. The pants are the Matilda Jane Leafy Ruffles and they seem to be running big. The tank is the MJ Polkie Tank and it has a cute bow on the right shoulder that matches the Leafys perfectly. Tossed on a Pink Hippo flower clip and her Lelli Kelly "Princess" shoes and made it comfy and cute. We took this look to evening by changing shirts once the humidity started to falter by adding the MJ Westside Elaina in celery tunic and a blue flower clip from Pink Hippo. The greens match perfectly and I definitely love this combination and hope it still fits come fall!
